2 y/o Female German Short Hair in Hillsboro, Oregon For Sale

Zoe was born February 10, xxxx and is a gorgeous, rare Liver colored German Short Hair who is small for her breed due to being a Parvo survivor as a young pup. Being a Parvo survivor, means she is now immune for life and does not need (translation: must not ever get) the Parvo vaccine. Just needs her current Rabies for tags in May. PLEASE NOTE: She CANNOT pass this on to any other dog!!! She is immune and not a carrier and is perfectly healthy in every other way. Her getting Parvo was vaccine induced after getting her second shot/booster (Parvo is a live virus vaccine). Her medical records are available from the Vet and can be faxed to your vet. Zoe is not registered but *can* be through blood type as the breeders name and info was lost. Zoe is still an intact female.
Keep in mind that being a Parvo survivor makes her special in many ways so you should be prepared for that. She can only eat grain free food and Nature Balance, Potato and Rabbit Limited Ingredient Recipe seems to be the food that works best for her and is her favorite. This is the food that keeps the weight on her best. *** SHE *CANNOT* HAVE CORN OR GRAIN: she becomes skeletal and BEYOND hyper and also gets diarrhea like nobody's business.*** Also, NO DAIRY or she will gas you out of existence! She has a very high metabolism so it is hard to keep weight on her. Doesn't eat a lot (2-5 c of food a day) and is a grazer. She loves apples (1-4 daily), fresh blueberries, bananas (if you cut them up), pears, sweet potatoes (cooked or raw) and spinach. Not a huge fan of cherries, but will eat them. Will eat dried apples and cherries.
She points and is very stealthy when hunting and if you loose her, shes super fast. Hates blue jays and crows and will catch blue jays mid air. (She's a bird dog, remember? ;) ) She's runner if she gets loose, but EVENTUALLY comes back. She is a hound and if she gets a scent shes gone.
VERY high strung which is pretty typical of the breed but is quiet in the house, never barks, and loves to be around her people and wants to please, love and be loved. She is extremely loving and affectionate.
Is superb with children, very snuggly and lovey with her people, but CANNOT BE AROUND OTHER DOGS. ***MUST*** be the only dog in the home. Her only flaw, and its huge, is she is wicked to other dogs, apparently an aftereffect of having Parvo. Her sudden, unprovoked aggression towards other dogs is not consistent and without trigger, so she cannot do dog parks or be off leash at the beach, etc. On the upside, the Parvo changed her cell shape and makeup and fleas don't like her blood, so she doesn't get fleas.
Ideally, she needs an active, young outdoorsy couple/family with a firm hand and rough "no". She loves going bye bye and camping and is not afraid of guns or things that are bigger than her. Loves to be bathed (just don't get water in her ears. ;) ). She's been a country dog all her life and has no fear of traffic/cars. If walking down the street, she needs to be kept on a tight leash because of other dogs. (She won't try and pull out of your hand). She may appear to cower or be afraid (crossing the street would be a good idea...) but you don't know if she is really afraid or sizing the other dog up and/or baiting for attack, and being the aggressor, if she attacked, she would have to be put down. Remember, this isn't because of the breed, but Parvo. She's not aggressive towards people.
